Multi-marketplace reconciliation & cross-border VAT
Accounting Services for E-commerce in Dubai
E-commerce accounting means reconciling Amazon, Noon, Shopify and direct sales against inventory movements and marketplace fee deductions — a mismatch here is usually invisible until the VAT return doesn't add up.
What's different about e-commerce accounting
Most businesses in this sector rely on the same core services: bookkeeping, VAT return filing, the annual corporate tax return and the statutory audit.
Accounting services built for e-commerce
Accounting for e-commerce and online retail businesses
Online sellers deal with thousands of small transactions, marketplace commissions, payment gateway fees, refunds, cash-on-delivery remittances and stock held in third-party fulfilment centres. Revenue recorded from bank deposits alone is almost always wrong. Proper e-commerce accounting reconciles every marketplace and gateway settlement to orders, so gross sales, fees and VAT are all correct.
| Settlement reconciliation | Amazon.ae, Noon, Shopify and payment gateway payouts reconciled to orders, fees and refunds |
| Inventory | Stock in own and third-party warehouses valued and counted |
| COD and couriers | Cash-on-delivery remittances matched to deliveries |
| Unit economics | Contribution margin per order after fees, shipping and returns |
| Multi-channel reporting | Sales and margin by channel each month |
| Year-end | IFRS statements, corporate tax return and VAT reconciliation |
VAT and corporate tax for e-commerce
UAE VAT applies to gross sales to UAE customers, not to the net amount the marketplace pays out; marketplace commissions are separate supplies to you. Exports to customers outside the UAE can be zero-rated with evidence of shipment. Returns and refunds require credit notes.
For corporate tax, sales to individuals are generally an excluded activity for free zone companies, so B2C online revenue from a free zone entity is usually taxed at 9% unless Small Business Relief applies. Many small online businesses are better served by mainland licences and SBR.

Questions from e-commerce owners
Do I need to register for VAT separately for each marketplace?+
No — VAT registration is at the legal entity level, not per marketplace, but each channel's sales still need correct VAT treatment in your consolidated return.
How do you handle marketplace payouts that lag actual sales by weeks?+
We reconcile on an accruals basis — recording the sale when it happens, matched against the eventual payout — so your P&L reflects real trading activity, not just cash received.
Can you help if we're selling across three marketplaces and a website?+
Yes — this is exactly the reconciliation complexity we're set up for; most generic bookkeepers struggle once you're past a single sales channel.
Is VAT due on the gross sale or the marketplace payout?+
On the gross sale price charged to the customer. Marketplace fees are separate costs.
Can a free zone e-commerce company pay 0% corporate tax?+
Generally not on B2C sales, as transactions with individuals are an excluded activity.
Do you integrate Shopify or Amazon with accounting software?+
Yes — we set up integrations with Xero, QuickBooks Online or Zoho Books and reconcile settlements.
Is e-invoicing required for online sellers?+
B2C sales are excluded from the current mandate, but B2B sales are in scope.
